Toy Story Marathon: How Long It Takes and How to Pace It

All four Toy Story films back to back run 6 hours and 16 minutes; with short breaks, plan a full Saturday or two relaxed evenings.

Four films, one gang of toys and a story that stretches from 1995 to 2019. Watching them in order is one of the great family binges: Andy grows up, and the toys have to cope with it.

The honest answer to "how long does it take?" is 6 hours and 16 minutes of film. Add a 15-minute break between each and you are at just over 7 hours, which works as a lazy Saturday (start at 10:00, done by about 5:00) or as two evenings of two films each.

Pacing it

Split the day in two. Watch the first two films after breakfast or lunch, when younger children have the most patience, and save the third and fourth for after dinner. Do not watch Toy Story 3 when anyone is already tired: its ending is the most emotional of the four, and tissues are normal.

If you have a sensitive child, preview the furnace scene in Toy Story 3 yourself. It is short but intense, and it is the reason that one is labeled 8+.

You can also save the whole marathon to your list on its Toy Story marathon page.
