Best Movies for the Whole Family (Approved for All Ages)

Eight classics approved for all ages, from toddlers to grandparents, where the scariest moment is brief and easy to talk through.

By the Bingeable team 1 min read

"All ages" is the hardest label to earn. Everything on this list has been checked by a person, and the films carry nothing that needs a parent's hand to hold: the scary moments are brief and the endings are kind.

That does not mean they are bland. These are some of the best-loved films ever made, and the grown-ups in the room will enjoy them as much as the children.

What "all ages" does and does not mean

It means that a thoughtful adult looked at the whole film, not just its rating, and decided that nothing in it should alarm a young child. It does not mean no child will ever be upset: a few of these have a sad scene that a sensitive viewer might want company for. Where there is one, we say so above.

Every film's page lists exactly what to expect, so you can check before you press play.

Quick answers

What does "All ages" mean on Bingeable?
It is the most cautious label we use. A person has checked the film and found nothing that should frighten or distress a young child. A film rated G is not automatically All ages: some earn 8+ for a single intense scene.
Are these movies good for toddlers?
Many are, but toddlers vary. My Neighbor Totoro and WALL·E tend to be the calmest. The Wizard of Oz and the opening of Finding Nemo are the two to preview for the very youngest.
